Re: Cold Steel Receiver Build
Im posting a pic of the slot (if it works) I did mine like this. I used 5 of the 402 cutting discs for my dremel. I stacked em up on the mounting "rod" and used em to grind the slot. Turns out they are just about the exact same width as the slot itself.

Re: Cold Steel Receiver Build
Right on!! Looks like your almost there! I think flemgunners pic summed it up beautifully! That was a great idea to use the dremmel like that! I noticed that the "bumps" on his reciever are exactly like the originals making it as (simple)(HA HA HA!!!!) as cutting the slot and welding the ratchet plate. On my coldsteal the bumps were a plate that had been chopped out with a grinder wheel and then bent into place. If I had just cut the slot into the "Raised" bumps there would only have been about .020 to .050 holding the back of the charging handle instead of what looks in pictures to be close to 1/8 (.125) inch. SOOOOO I welded more bump on my bumps! then used a air cutoff wheel in a similar fashion to flemgunners method. I would like to know if your coldsteal will work as is ?
P.S. Coldsteal is not a miss-spelling!

Re: Cold Steel Receiver Build
The dremel idea was brilliant !!!
worked great... As for the bumps , I am going to weld some more "bumps" and clean them up . Just have to control myself now,way to close to a first firing and I don't want to screw anything up

Re: Cold Steel Receiver Build
Could be the tab on the bottom of the "cocking rail" (cant remember the name of it now) the part you weld onto the outside of the receiver that the charging handle slides in.
The little tab on the bottom gives a mechanical advantage to give it that extra "Ummph" to disengage the bolt. Kind of like the handle on a G3.
When you pull the charging handle back does the little "finger" hit the tab?

With the flash hider off and booster cone out of there, try bouncing the gun on a block of wood[pointing down,of course]. The rollers may have gotten stuck. ---bil
