When working on receivers, what type of filler wire is best? I have seen ER80S-D2 recommended for some applications.

plain old copper clad mild steel is all you need.

ER90S-B3 is what I'm using.
it has a very high tensile strength, very easy to work with and polishes and cold blues nice. haven't hot blued yet , but I'm not expecting any streaks.

yeah, I know .... 'necropost'

The info here is pretty old. Is copper clad mild steel TIG wire still the best thing to use?

I plan to just parkerize my project (no other finish/paint/whatever), so I'm wondering what will take the park solution best.

Anyone out there experiment with something different?

I used copper clad steel on mine and black oxide on it with no indication of a color diference between the Yugo shrould, weld and coldsteel reciever.

oh man bolex, she is fine looking! I too was worried about discoloring the finish in the welded areas.

Thanks for the pic + info

I finished my M53/MG42 over a year ago, my problem is getting out to shoot it. Here is the finished firearm.
