The last "Original" sled "Inner-Shield" went to Montana with a sled......
the last "Original" MG-08 "clip-On" AA-rear-sight (made in Hamberg-? and slid over the rear post-sight once it was in the verticle-position) went with the same gun. The man that bought the gun/sled/accessories may/may not wish to sell these items (?).

I never had an original "clamp-on" front AA-Sight......buy may still have the drawlings that I made up to make a "reproduction" of that front sight. It is not a priority for me to look right now........I am looking for MG42 parts/accesories and collimator for an MGZ-40 Optic.

Richard S - thanks for your input. I too would like clear definition of the larger outer shields too. Is there anyone out there who has 100% confirmed original kit prepared to show images (David K?). Although the inner shield debate continues it now seems there are different patterns!!!I Did the Germans make 2 types of inner shield or is indeed one incorrect!!!??
As fo the many patterns of outer shields maybe image images of an IMA example would help. More confusion

Hello mark,

i don't understand what you are speaking about "the inner shield"?? Is it the shield inside the legs of sledmount?

Best regards

David thanks.
3 Questions really.
Q1. Is there more than one pattern/type of inner shield (the one that fits snugly into the sled, between the legs as shown in Matts earlier images).
Q2. What are the key identifiers of fake, repro or authentic inner shields, and water jacket armour for that matter?
Q3. The larger outer shield patterns (several types) - again how to determine authentic Imperial German, or another nation or repro?

Gents, I am getting in on this a bit late. I have the armor set, all 4 pieces, that includes the big square piece that covers everything. My big piece is a mystery to this point, it is painted camo on what I now believe to be the inside, putting the plain green paint out front. Makes no sense. My lower interior piece is a slightly different shape than the one pictured in the beginning of this article, all plain green. It is marked 'B. Weidermann', 'Berlin M 39', '1916'. I cant find any markings on the other pieces. My water jacket cover has no pointed rivets/bolts, (also camo painted, as is the waterjacket front piece) but the bolts on the big armor piece are pointed.

I have tried to mount the big piece with the camo paint out, no luck, I am all but convinced the rolled vertical edges are to go forward........that puts the scope view hole on the correct side and the cut out on the bottom will be over the end of the spare barrel.............any one know for sure???? I didnt get subscribed to this thread, so lemme know by email.

I have been sent a set of pictures of real, correct armor. The first stuff pictured in this post appears to be the same, if anyone wants me to forward the pictures to them, email me so I can use the forward button heckinohio@att.net PJH

I am boring - to raise again!!!!

Inner sled mount shields.
I am still not convinced/satsfied :D I think we all agree that there is fake 08 body armour floating around. But I believe that there was at least 2 types of inner shield produced. These pointy rivets seem to not assist id'ing fake or real - yet there are 2 types of brackets??
Could we place our images again - of just inner shields - in this thead, and if known to be fake please say?
Thanks
Mark
