It looks a lot like the ones you sell, doesn't it! :D Can these be made into a semi receiver? The fit is amazing,it fits perfectly. When I recover from the latest spending bout,I am thinking of this gun in the air-cooled version. This is a very addictive hobby! ---bil

I will Bil and I'll post some photos of the completed sample before sending it off.

By the way - A guy in Germany sent me a sample of RAL7028 which I received on Thursday and it's at the local Sherwin-Williams distributor for matching. They told me that they would have a sample ready Monday afternoon.

Bil,

That is a great looking gun! All I have to say is whoever you bought that from must be a great guy to be willing to sell you such a great gun. I think you should send him an extra $100 just to make sure you paid enough for it. You need some better pictures... they do not show how pretty that parts kit is! Its so pretty, he will not even have to repaint it Orin!

Now I would post a picture of mine... but I seem to have misplaced my gun somewhere... oh thats right, it evolved into a Vickers...

Matt-I think I will send the poor guy that $100-it might make him feel better for selling such a nice gun.The original finish is so nice,I am going to leave it alone.I hope the guy uses the money wisely, and buys more gun stuff, and doesn't spend it foolishly on food and clothes! :D Orin, did you get the paint I sent? let me know how it matches up with the German sample. The bike looks good, can't wait for more photos. ---bil

Very nice, thank you! Two diferant type buttstocks.I was under the impression that the 'ST61 was a post-war designation for the water-cooled version, although the air-cooled one may have the wrong receiver. The ad seems to imply the WC version was used in WWII,contrary to any info I have found. Thanks again, very interesting. Now I need an AC model! :? ---bil

The first butt-stock is the Romanian 1956 model for the rebuilt WC (non-foldable). The second one is the IMA sold copy of the original German one (probably Romanian made as well), together with the replacement barrell jacket also sold by IMA.

The seller has a fancy story, I will give him that! In order to explain the non-German quality of the WC parts he explains it with "French production under German supervision...." The ST61 appears to have been a pure export production run, and most ended up as rebuilt for WC.

I must admit to not reading every word in this thread, but I never did catch whether this is a FA gun or not???? I have an FA C & R version, and after sitting for any length of time, I have a real tough time getting it to cock. Once it comes free, seems to work ok and will stay that way if I remember to cock it every few days or so.. I have greased the barrel at the water seals......

Any ideas????
There are no bad guns!!!!!!!!!
