Interesting WWII image of sled/08. The WWI postcard is an abandoned British MG trench. The interesting thing is the 2 'markers/poles for left and right arcs.

Re: Another great image!
Mark,
THANKS for the pictures of Rocco’s grandfather’s villa in the first post Seriously those are great photos
BIL,
Given the ad hoc style of the Frei Korps, I am guessing they are possibly Reichswehr. My only justifications for this hypothesis are the uniform devoid of any decorations and what appears to be short bayonet sheaths Therefore I do not believe that they are Imperial, Frei Korp, or Stehlhelm, but I am sure that I could easily be proven wrong, where are the uniform experts????

Thats an awesome picture! I don't think I have ever seen that many together before. Where are the Sleds! The price would drop a bit if we could get our hands on that arsenal!MarkFinneran wrote:If only.................

Well, as you can see by the sign at the upper right corner, they are at MIT (Mass. Inst. of Tech.) in Boston, MA, probably on the football field waiting to be picked up by collectors of the day.

Re: Another great image!
I had guessed as much, but just making a joke.
Thanks for posting the whole pictures, as I like the whole picture since it also includes a bunch of cannons in the background!

Look at the top of the gear box on the sleds to the far left. They look like they have something on top of the gear box to stop the bottom of the MG08 from hitting. Much like the post war system that locks the back of the MG08 to the top of the gear box.
Very good pictures!
While we are on good pictures... anyone have some of the MG08/15 Lafette? I need some good ones of the T&E but really any would be great to have as there are so few.

Yes it is. Its got the recoil cradle and the general shape of the tripod. The cradle is made of tubes rather than sheet metal. From my knowledge, I own the only parts of this mount still in existence. I have been trying to figure out more on the T&E and remote trigger and really everything. There just is so little out there on it... guess I need Seth researching it! I would love to remake one using a Yugo tripod as a base.42rocker wrote:That sure looks like the start of a mg34 lafette...
