JBaum, thank you.
As a to the MG42 world, what books would you recommend froom your link?
Don't want a depot rebuild book, but one for general maintenance, basic parts disassembly, etc, similar to current owners manuals.
Thanks,
David

The single best MG42 manual I have would be HDv 241. Each has some details not covered in the other manuals, but for an operator manual, HDv 241 is tops. It covers all the basics that the shooter needs to know.

I have two copies of HDv 241, one to read in bed, the other to get filthy while working on projects. I highly recommend that volume.

Have wanted an MG34 for years.
Finally found one, slightly used, good shape, good price.

The previous owner said he was selling because he never really spent time shooting it.
I have a feeling he was tired of tinkering with it.

I put 40 rounds through it on my first outing.
I did have some feeding troubles but it was fun none the less.

I‘m from Eastern Washington (the good side) and have been collecting German militaria for about 20 years, been reenacting for about 10-11. i have built several semi-auto smg kits before but have never owned or built an MG. I‘m excited to learn here and see some of the creations you all have come up with.

I too have been divorced twice, first wife loved heroin and the street life more than me, second wife thought I loved the first one more than her. Now happily remarried and have 2 kids from my wife’s prior marriage and we just had our own in August so our house is loud and busy.

I‘m also a full time student that was recently on track for mechanical engineering until I learned they don’t actually get to play with the toys, they just design them so I am now working in a precision machining and welding program while completing a degree in business to hopefully open up a small shop within the next 4-5 years

If anyone has special tips or trick for a first time SA MG42 builder, please shoot them my way, I‘m only 30 but I love pdf‘s, written instructions and videos that explain the best and most effective way to do things.

Re: Introductions (or one way to increase your post count).
Hello all. I'm Simon from Ohio. New here. I have been collecting military arms since I was 8. I have been into belt feds for about 15 to 20 years but could never afford them. about 10 years ago I did an electrical job and the business owner couldn't afford to pay me in cash so he started paying me in parts kits. I am now in a position to at least look at building them. I ended up with an IMBEL FAL, Romanian AK, 1919a4, 5 sten kits, a MAS bolt action in 7.5 French (not a kit) a Tec9 (not a kit) and two MG42 kits. The latter bringing me here. I am just now completing my 1919a4 kit and a Bren kit I bought 20 years ago. I am no machinist so I will undoubtedly have to have some one do them. Anyway that's how I ended up here, sorry for the long post. Looking forward to a new education on here.

Three are lots of visitors here, but so many find everything they need in the existing message bases, that there aren't many new posts.

Hello everyone, long time forum member elsewhere, but now I must pay my dues in order to buy/sell. I’m in the beautiful PNW and spend 90% of my day in the garage doing absolutely nothing.

I’m not new to building or MG’s, but haven’t combined the two yet.
