to complete my mg42 who was re-used by the bundeswher i need an original buttstock because mine is in black plastic. I also need some pictures form a WWII MG42 feed tray. Because there are many fake post war buttstocks and BH feed tray's.
i have read here on the board that you have to have an wwII german buffer to fit an original wwII buttstock ?
so i looked at mine and i think its an original WWII buttstock ? http://i322.photobucket.com/albums/nn41 ... G_0009.jpg
is this right ?
the buttstock is a bit loose but can be fitted all the way
this is the buttstock
for me it is very hard to find a WW2 original wooden buttstock with interial metal fitting, only the wood.
So i was thinking if i crack open the bakelite stock would the metal from the stock fit into the original wood stock ? Did anyone tried this before ?
Any help is welcome because i dont want to crack open my bakelite buttstock and then see the metal fitting wont fit in the wooden stock
As far as the Yugo buffer fitting into a German rear receiver section, the results have been a mixed bag for me. I recently sold three three parts kits. Each one had a Yugo front "shroud" receiver section mated to an original WWII German rear receiver section. The only part that was of German manufacture in each kit was the three original rear receiver sections. Everything else was Yugoslavian.
On one kit, the situation was as expected: the buffer would go into the receiver, but would not turn into the "locked" position.
On the other two kits, the Yugo buffer fit like a glove. Insert them into the rear receiver section, turn, and lock into place. Perfect fit.

but my buffer fits in my reciever , so its WW2 but i have an post war buttstock. ( who fits on the buffer )
i want to remove the bakelite from the buttstok and place the metal fitting inside de buttstock in to an original wooden MG42 WWII buttstock. Are the fittings of the buttstocks the same ?
I would keep looking for a buttstock with the metal in it.I don't have one with me,but I think they are attached differantly.I have several apart at home.Try Robert at RTG,he may have what you need. ---bil

The metal internals on a bakelite buttstock are the same as the ones used on the wood stocks, I know this first hand. I have tried in the part to remove the buffer cups from damaged bakelite stocks, good luck with that, they were cast in place and the bond was very good. If you need a buffer cup, through bolt and nut, email me, I have hundreds stripped from bad wood stocks.[

is the bakelite glued on the buffer cups ? maybe i can crack it open and remove the bakelite with a little hammer ? If i can lay my hands on a real wwII piece i dont need that bakelite piece anymore... what would the price be for a complete original buttstock ? ( wood and buffercup ? ) and the transportcosts to belguim ?
Check with Dan at Angola armory,or Robert at RTG,or Allegheny arsenal at mg34.com ,find out how much they cost. Then send me a PM.Do not worry if they say they will not ship overseas, just get the price and if they have one.You will be better off this way than to destroy the one you have. The material you have is called Bakelite,an early plastic. The one you have can be used for sale or trade. ---bil

Yea & if he wants rto trade a wood stock for a black bakelite I'm interested
Not a bad Idea Hey post up a pic of that Bakelite stock & I have a wood one just needs a light sand & some linseedoil wanna trade I will post some pics of it & even take a couple of it on a german Receiver so you can see it fits perfect Oh wait I have a pic of it in thay bunch of pics I posted
Ya wont get a tighter fit than this on a wood stock PM me for intrest in it we can work a deal if you like it or need more pics
Because I have a boat load of wood ones & only one ragged chipped old brown bakelite one
And I want to build a .308 yugo one & it would match the build & I like to have several different versions of a weapons system in my collection..... But more than anything else I just dont have one
Any Idea what it would cost to ship to / from Belgium ???? I like the looks of your stock
but i live in belguim so it would cost a lot to send it
if i may ask...why do you want to trade a wooden stock for a post war bakelite stock ?
Do you have any other markings on the rear of that receiver besides the numbers stamped into it the reason I ask is I have a german receiver with just the numbers & was wondering what number range yours is they may be cousins
the number on the reciever and fabric are scrubbed out , I'm not shure if its the original number because there is an BH marking ( bundeswher) next to it. All the parts have german markings exept the barrel, buttstock, and the tray. ( tray can fire 8MM and .308 and is an MG1 tray i think beause he doesn't have the hooks ) Lots of BPR markings too.. and waffenambts... http://i322.photobucket.com/albums/nn41 ... G_0028.jpg
