WTB/WTT REARMOST MG42 Recvr PIECE
WTB/WTT REARMOST MG42 Recvr PIECE
Looking for a PIECE of the MG42 rear receiver. I need the rearmost 2-3"" In a perfect world, it would be a piece that is perhaps cut through the oblong hole on the bottom of the receiver so as to clear the recouperator anchor and bottom of buffer lockup plate.
Thanks guys

Not really interested in breaking up the sets. As for your gaps those are easy fixes. You just need to build up each piece with weld and reshape prior to assembly. Makes for a very nice finished piece, as I have done three of them that way. Even matching reciever pieces have 1/4 removed from the demill. If you build it up and re shape prior to joining the pieces you will have a nearly flawless butt weld. Which is more mechanicaly sound than filling the void with weld and a copper backing plate.

The second way is the best. It allows for full penetration and you also will not have overburn or sinkage. By adding more than you need inside and out it makes for a better part.
I do all my semi builds of demills that way if possible. Granted it takes more time, but in the end you are hard pressed to find the welds on the outside. And very little distortion, gap, sinkage on the inside where all the moving parts are located. By building up and fitting the parts this way, as you would by cutting overlapping pieces. You also help to eliminate overall warpage and shrinkage.
