How about an RK40?

Post by nap »

Hi, Anyone have any photos fo an RK40 being used to assist an MG34 in indirect fire other than what's in Folke's book? How about makers. Does anyone know of any other markers of the RK40 besides dkl and cme?
Thanks Nap

Hi again Nap!

I think the Indirect Fire use of MG's was more of a theoretical possibillity than something that saw any widespread use. I have seen Veeeery few pictures at all of Mg34's firing indirect with the equipment shown in use. If you would see any pictures of a RK working with a MG, it would most certainly be the RK31. By the time the RK40 was introduced I think the whole idea of indirect MG fire was abandoned.

When it comes to makers; who knows! I seem to remember at least a third maker, but it will most certainly end up like the old MGz40 story. First it was claimed that only 3 makers made them, and then a rush of new unknown obscure makers enters the scene!

Thanks Reidar. I suspected that. I sent you a PM but I think you said you weren't being notified. Might check your box?
