MG34 FP Spring Compared to 98k Firing Pin Spring?

Post by MG34Biker »

I no longer have a 98k so I can't confirm. I was getting light strikes in my spare bolt yesterday so I disassembled both bolts to compare. One firing pin was just a bit shorter than the other and one firing pin spring was one coil shorter. While looking these over, I was wondering if these firing pin springs are close to the 98k firing pin springs. Wolff makes extra strong Mauser firing pin springs which might also work in the MG34.

Can somebody compare an MG34 FP Spring with a Mauser 98k FP Spring?

IF they are close, I'll order a couple from Brownell's and give it a shot.

From the repair manual:

Replace the Firing Pin Spring if it is broken or can be compressed to less than 61.5 mm high by a load of 9.5 kg.
