If you want a proper one that looks WWII. You need to get one from blitzbikes. I have one.
You may need to do some machining to the post of your post war MG42 AA to properly fit. In the picture below, it's just the head portion. not the mounting base.

If all that you need is the weapon-mounting "yoke" (the black piece in the above photo where the MG34 mounts).....I have a couple of reproductions for sale just like that down in the For-Sale-Section.

well my problem is that I don't really know what part or parts I need to make an mg3(42) AA tripod work (dont have it in hand yet) anyone know what I'll need exactly? I'm not too concerned with it being authentic or anything I'm just looking for a way to shoot the gun standing up on the tripod.

I have the mg3 AA tripod, but have not opened the box, so I don't know if it comes with the post war mounting head. Assuming that it does, then all you would need is the MG34 yoke. The black part in the picture that pivots. I have the correct WWII head and pivot yoke in the for sale section. But you would have to do some machining to the tripod shaft for it to fit. I think blanksguy has the MG34 yoke or they do come up on ebay.

I just looked at the AA tripod, and It would need both the Head and the yoke to do it with the MG34. It would still need a simple machining to the post to accept the Head I have.

just opened up my mg3 AA tripod to take a peek. It the diameter of the shaft is 1/4" larger than the wwII shaft. So it would need machined down and another groove put in.

My mg3 AA tripod is brand new, never issued.
