Semi MG34 feed issues

I built a reweld MG34 using the TNW parts and had a bit of an issue at the range. When it strips the live round out of the belt it forces the bullet too far down and it occasionally gets stuck on the face of the barrel below the chamber. Also when it's empty the bolt slides effortlessly back and forth - when it's loaded it binds and sometimes stops forward motion soon after it starts to strip the live round. I'm thinking the feed way may be too tight and that's causing some of this but after putting so much time into the build I'm in no hurry to start milling material away. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

As always - thanks.

How's the ejector pin clearance on the ejector plate? Might be one thought....Chris...

Yes, fit the ejector to the receiver so that it's action is smooth. Each bolt will fit differently. That, and it could just be friction from the heavy f/p spring, although it cocks on opening, so most of the friction would occur on recoil I'd think. Test: Remove the bolt, cock it and fire it. If you can't do that with your hands, imagine the recoil spring trying to do it as it drives the bolt along the grooves, strips a new round, and spins it into the barrel....Phil

I think I found part - if not all - of the problem. The barrel was binding in the shroud which would have caused a number of problems. I installed another barrel and it dry functions fine - just have to test fire it. I will check the ejector area as well. Thanks gents.
