I have 1934 Heavy Ball Battle Packs

Post by DerKerl »

I got this case of 8mm with Spanish markings on it and opened it up and low and behold there are 4 1934 dated German Heavy Ball battle packs in there and a dozen lose boxes. I figure that these would go nicely with a MG34 display. I don't know about shooting them. Might keep one and one to go with a Spanish Civil War display I have going. I'm a new guy here. I hope I'm not violating a forum rule. I'm in the Seattle area. Doug

You want to keep that ammo as a collector piece. Some guys still occasionally shoot original 8mm, but it's getting rare enough now that you want to transition to postwar surplus for shooting.

Yeah. That's what I'm thinking. Got a clue what a battle pack of this stuff is worth these days? I've seen a few sell on gunbrokers.com but nothing this early. Probably just remarked from the German to Spanish on the wooden crate left over from the Spanish Civil War. Doug

No clue. Haven't priced battlepacks before. Shop around. The price is variable since it's a collectable.

I have seen them go for $200 per battle pack.

The battle packs being the larger cardboard boxes with the woven cloth handles, containing smalles boxes of shells.Even the empties are worth hanging on to,especially the smaller boxes if they still have the labels.I have some of the smaller boxes of tracer, and larger packs of regular 8MM. ---bil
