I would like to know your opinion about this drum marked WaA44.
Sorry these are the only pics I have. the description of the item says its original waffenamt WaA44.
I have look drums with waffenamt marking but I didn't find.
I have handled many original and postwar drums here in the UK and have never seen an original with a WaA stamp, only ever the three-letter manufacturer's code. (and hqu is correct for the time)
The indentations on yours suggest somebody has added both the markings in an attempt to increase its value, as original stamps are made with the surface supported, and usually before final construction anyway, so they are never dented.
Having said that, yours is probably genuine WW2 anyway, as it looks like one of the many 'blued' examples that have surfaced from Russian capture stocks.
If you are buying - how much is the seller asking?
