MG34 adapter to fit Laffette tripod
MG34 adapter to fit Laffette tripod
Guys who else handles the MG34 adapter plate that allows you to use the MG42 Laffette tripod? TNW did handle them but now I think that are strictly dealing with the government and not the public. Any help would be appreciated.

What ...?
Call TNW, and ask for the 'block', that is screwed onto the barrel jacket. Should be, 20-25 bucks..........ask for Tim........They were just here at KCR for the shoot, and I sent a mg-34 owner to Tim for one of those block/adaptors.......jw

I purchased on of the blocks
I purchased one of the blocks from TNW - you have to keep watch when using. The block mounts with the small screw thats in the gun now and its not really secure. In fire it will come loose and fall out to god only knows where.. Locktite is not much help... It does work and is a cheap way to get the job done..
You guys should have opened your wallets and purchased one of the Lafette 34's that were available at the Creek. They were SWEET. The background info was that they were captured by the Russians around Stalingrad and were placed into storage--with tons of grease I might add. They just now came out of Russia. Excellent shape with tons of waffens. All but one had a date and manufacturer stamp. The earliest was 1937, there were several 1938s, a few 1940s and 1941s. Someone had painted them green, but several knowledgeable sources said that it wasn't a Russian color and speculated that the Germans may have repainted them after issuance. One pod was repainted gray.
I still don't have a digital camera so I didn't take any pictures of them. I did buy one though so I'll eventually be able to post pictures of mine.
The clamping mechanism for the shroud is really neat. It has a locking pivot which allows for a barrel change while your 34 is locked onto the tripod--you just hit the lever and shroud swivels while still attached to the pod. I'd never seen one of these in person before.
The guy who brought them over said that there were only 150 of them. He sold 120 in Europe and brought the rest to the U.S. He sold most of them in the week leading up to the Creek. After a few guys picked theirs up at the Creek, I think there were only a few left for sale by that time. At least one was on Don Bell's table (I think that's his name) all day on Friday and Saturday.
I can already sense TOMR waiting in the wings to write "this post needs pics". I need to get a digital camera, bad.

junglewalk,
I had no idea that was you! I was there at the creek when the gunny was there. My little brother and I shot my uncle's Thompson right before the Gunny got there. I think you know my uncle Bob, he's always trying to get you to bring your Thompson with ya. Good to see ya on here as well!!

Yes, Yes,,,,,,
OMG !, I do remember you and your brother.....Your Uncle Bob is such a fine gentleman, and so patient thru the years, when he has to wait so long to get to go thru the 'jungle'.
I wish I knew you were there.....next time !
I looked and looked at the tri-pod on the table, by John the manual translator man. (I failed to get back to him to get 2 manuals)....They were $775. I was trying to figure how to explain it to the wife.......wait till the credit card bill arrived, & act schocked, or convince her she needed the tri=pod, or take my right-full position of 'King', and tell her to be silent !! :l++
I was surprised at how heavy the originals are. I figured they were a lot lighter than the post-war m-3 ones. If they were lighter, I would have got one, and stood on my throne, as enlightened one, leader of family, and all round 'big decision maker' for family.
What a great picture of you & Gunny...give my best to your Uncle.......jw

Why not tell us all how you came to take the nice 1941 dated Lafette 34 back to California instead of it's being shipped to Hawaii?

Great men are born in fire, it is the privilege of lessor men to light the flame, no matter the cost

The guy selling the Lafette 34's was Tony Budge from England.
I beleive Don Bell at Omega-Weapons is storing them for Tony and will know how to contact him.
Price for the tripods was $1,100 at Knob Creek. This did not include the AA extension and Tony did not have any.
You can contact Don Bell at http://www.omega-weapons-systems.com/
