Just finished writing yet another article on the never-ending MG34 saga!
I have put together a study of the 3 different accessory boxes for the MG34; the Ergänzungskasten, the Vorratskasten and the Zubehörkasten. Comes complete with copies of the original documents, translated documents, a set of pictures to match the part lists and overview pictures of the actual contents!

Another MG34 article for your reading pleasure!
Re: Another MG34 article for your reading pleasure!
I have now added a small section about the MG42 Ersatzteilkasten at the end!
Re: Another MG34 article for your reading pleasure!
Very nice! I see you have begun the lafette section as well-that should keep you busy for a few years!
Thanks for taking the time to put this all together for others to learn from. BTW,I didn't see any MG34 transport boxes......

Re: Another MG34 article for your reading pleasure!
I read thru your study of the Dt-15 & 34 on your site.....Thank you for taking the time to put together such a clear picture for us;.
...........I do have one question;..>> Is there any way a novice can relieve the spring pressure that the DT-15 has.....as I wrote in your guest book, I can only get 40-45 rounds loaded in my DT-15 to be fed & cycled successfully.
The spring tension is tremendous, if I could relieve just a little of the tension, I believe I could get nearly 75 rounds to function/cycle with the gun......ty, bh

Hi again, and thank you for the feedbak!
The "important" differences between the two magazines is the release latch design and the feeding mechanism.
The first problem is easy to bypass, you can just remove the latch, as most do. It can of course also be "manipulated" to look like the PT34 latch and function properly.
The second problem is much more complicated. The PT34 is easy to adjust (as I have tried to describe in the article). It is just a matter of a coil spring which can be tightened/untightened. When it comes down to the D-T 15 it is quite another ballgame. The feeding mechanism is a clockwork spring (flat) that is contained within a cylinder housing. I have the phantom pictures of the innards in the MG15 manual, and I have seen quite a few crushed magazines, but I have never taken one apart to check "how it ticks".
But I guess that in theory you could manipulate the spring to ease the tension somewhat.
I know some have been rebuilt in the USA, but unsure if they cut the spring or replace it entirely.
