Ammo Can

Post by ChrisPCook »

Can anyone tell me about the use of these ammo cans, and if they were indeed used with the MG34, and not the MG15, etc. Also, does the paint look good, what do these cans go for when they are available? I have seen few like this, but they might be relatively common, I just don't know. Chris.....

They are usually associated with the FLAK38. They are also found with four of the oil cans in them. I do not think they have much to do with the MG34. Most of those cans came on the market in the early 1990s with the flood of MG13 related stuff from Portugal. They average 75.00 - 150 in price. They are always BSW 1938 dated. Sometimes they go for more depending on were it is listed and who is bidding on it.

A very similar type can was used with the MG08, early in WWI and before, it held 2 belts, and this was probably where the design for these later cans came from, minus the divider that was in the actual ammo cans.
