Recent aquisition from the local militaria fair.

EM34 Rangefinder, with roll cover. Tripod and calibration board.
Don't have the pouches for the board or tripod so if anyone knows of a lead or even has a spare contact would be appreciated.
The rangefinder is an earlier type as its not 34* marked. Roll is dated 1937 but that doesnt mean the rangefinder is that date.
I did the calibration thing as written in volks book and it comes in just about right so not bad for a a bit of kit possibly 70+ years old!

That's a nice setup. No, the rangefinder and tripod would not be from 1937 because three letter codes were not in use at that time. It really looks good. (bmj = Hensoldt )

Can't remember when the coded system came in to be honest,
the board and the tripod are definatley post code but the range
finder is manufacturers logo, same logo as on the roll Carl Zies Jena. Might be something inside to date it precisely but i dont have the bottle to strip it down to see Seems to originaly
have been the dark grey colour with an overpaint. It also seems to be coated quite heavily with some sort of pale grey compound, protective coating prior to painting perhaps. Impressively made tho.

bmj was issued as a code in Feb 1941 and cxn issued as a code in March 1941

That is a nice rangefinder.
