MG42 Barrels w/o the Barrel Locks?
I have a chance to buy some nice MG42 barrels, with nice bores, problem is that they are missing the barrel locks on the end? Are the blank barrels easy to thread into the barrel locks, any headspacing that needs to be done? Also, what is a fair price on barrels w/o the locks, I'm thinking about 50$ each, but that may be too low. Chris...

Re: MG42 Barrels w/o the Barrel Locks?
It all depends on if you have barrel extensions to screw on.... Last time I saw any for sale, they were $35. That puts it at $85 in parts minimum, and yes, they need checked for headspace after assembly. I don't know what complete barrels go for now, but it all sounds like more work than it's worth. Barrel extensions go bad too - the grooves chip and they become worthless as there is no way to repair them. Unless you have a source for extensions and the time/tools to put them together, and a need for the barrels, it's not something that I'd want to take on. Then there's the liability issue if you resell them.

Does anyone know what the barrel thread dimensions are for a 42 barrel?
