What is this sling worth

Post by longhorn109 »

I need a sling for my soon to arrive MG34 and I have seen this one on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=017

I asked the guy for some pics and he has sent them. He said the following
Hello,

There is more picture (i don't see mark on leather maybe they are ..??)

there are two waa stamp on the buckle ..

It's the FIRST ISSUE MG34 Sling (early model) because it has a flat steel buckle. It's Very RARE.

Normaly, i sold it to a man (130 $), he must pay me in two days ..and i must delete the ebay auction.

If, you want it... Il sold it to you directly at 150 $.
Let me now quickly if you are intested.

Paypal Payment is possible.

Thank you
Is this too much to pay? I have seen them going for about $100 and I don't want to get shafted

He isn't too accurate! It can hardly be a early sling (the flat sided front hook is no sign of that), as it is made to fit both the MG42 and 34. Note the extra spacer on the pin that goes through the grip! It must be made in 1942/43.
The flat side REAR buckle discussed in another thread is another ball game, as that one has been machined flat, a detail only found on the very early slings.
Price..... well, it is a original sling, but they can be found both cheaper and more expensive than this.

The picyure 2204 and 2212 are both of the rear clip, yet one looks like the early ,rare machined end, while the other looks like the more common cast piece. Are they pictures of two slings,or am I looking at it wrong. Also look in the F/S section at the sling there.Good luck. ---bil

Sharp eye there Bil!
The first two pictures are of a early machined MG34 sling, while the last picture depicts a mid-to-late war MG34/42 sling. Seller has mixed up the photos!
