Doppleromel - Trommelhalter ???

Have you folks seem Military Gun Supply's MG 34 Doppletrommel and trommelhalter (repro)? Looked very interesting and at an attractive price. I read up on the units and talked myself out of the pair as they seem to have been abandoned by the Germans and did not work well. The eact origin of these units is also unclear. Would love to hear from those in the know on the parts and functioning of them.

I saw them at the Tulsa Gun Show, and they were nice, the DoppelTrommels are really Luftwaffe MG15 DoppelTrommels, but will work. The Trommelhalter looked good, its a repro. I dont know how they work, I just looked at them at the show. They seem like a good company, they were quite good at the show. I plan to get some, unless dissuaded. Loading the doppel trommel, can be a headache. Theres a guy that runs loading tools for them occasionally on gunbroker.

I was told the drums will work if not fully loaded.The drums for the '15 are about $500 now,you can get them cheaper if you look around.I have one of the loaders from the e-bay guy,it works great.Also comes with an unloader tool.I will look for his name. The 34 looks real good with this set-up ---bil

The trommelhalter that MGS sells has the height of the magazine reference to the bolt wrong and it will feed sometimes but will turn your 34 into a "jam-o-matic".

The Dt15 Doppeltrommel will work with the 34 using an original trommelhalter if you load the trommelhalter with 75 rounds and let it sit for a couple of months to let the internal springs weaken. Then unload it and reload with only 50 rounds prior to firing. Ryan Schnee told me this trick and he has probably forgotten more about the 34 than I ever knew.
