TNW MG34 Trigger issue, need help.

Post by IMBLITZVT »

Guys, I bought a kit built TNW MG34. Works ok except for one problem.

I will load a belt, it strips and the bolt locks up fine. There does not seem to be any binding there. Fingers off the trigger.

Then I pull the trigger, nothing but some trigger movement noise. I let go of the trigger and it resets, pull again and boom. Gun cycles fine, bolt locks up. Let the trigger go, then pull again, nothing. Let go, pull again, boom! Cycles, pull again...nothing, let off pull again, boom.

Its like the disconnector is not resetting??? I take the gun down and don't see anything wrong... Any ideas or where to start?

I do notice that the trigger has to be pulled almost completely to the rear before it fires. I know the last owner changed the trigger rollers out with different sizes... do I just need a larger front roller? Or is that another issue?

Thanks for any help!

Hi Blitz, although you're using the TNW system, is you receiver one of theirs, or a reweld? I believe that the disconnector is the little flapper that releases the sear. The release lever is well shrouded by the bolt carrier, such that unless the bolt head is really locked into the barrel well, in battery, the flapper can't reach the release lever. It acts as a disconnector, because if you hold the trigger down after the first shot, it doesn't re-set unless you release it. Quite the nefarious system! I don't know why yours would require two trigger pulls to fire; friction in the system, or a tiny bit out of spec someplace. If you need dimentions or photos, let me know.
Picture of TNW receiver, and a cool diagramme of the F/A system. Good luck, Phil

Does anyone have an idea what the turn-around time might be for an MG34 purchased from TNW that would only fire single shot. They guarantee for a year but what if it takes that long?, will the return time eat into my year worth of warranty? Dont want to push them since Im on the east coast and their on the west!! Anybody have any problems with this company? Thanks in advance Ed

Just a thought, since you're in Maryland, why not give Brian a call at BRP in Clinton, and schedule a test-fire of his shop "XMG", an MG34 that uses an AR15 receiver. I believe he has a "used" one for sale on his site. In the video it works very well, and you can upgade to NFA f/a easily if it's in your budget someday!....Phil

Thanks Phil! Just wish I would have known before purchasing mg34.As I had been in the market for a year and now after dropping damn near 4 grand my dreams of a operational part of history are causing much anxiety not knowing if or when I'll get it as ordered. Again thankyou for your help Phil.
