If I were a betting man, I'd say not original. Stitching isn't bad, but the ends don't match for loop around count. Germans are still sticklers for perfection.
The eagle and WaA44 don't look like they were stamped at the same depth, therefore not at the same time. Those imprints were made with one stamp. They should match.
The 3 letter manufacturing code and 44 date were both stamped using the same punch. You can see the outline of it in the leather. Stamps weren't made with an outline, they tapered to the point of the design. And them both being imprinted with the same stamp.... never saw that before.

Could it be real? Sure, it's just my experience says otherwise.

OK. Thanks for your time and opinion. I might still buy it thoug, better than no dustcover at all :D
Might get the price a bit down.

Allso bought a mg42 dustcover for same site, and that was clearly a postwar with added german marks, I'll post pics this evening.

I have that very same stamp, issued to me by the 'waffen-amp' office. I use it to make real wartime stuff out of Chinese copies. Seriously, if anyone ever needs to borrow it. Works good on leather!.....Phil
