.308 barrels?
I'm looking to get hopefully at least 2 .308 barrels, I know brp has custom ones but at $500 a piece... anyone seen older Norwegian types floating around somewhere? The SAR show is coming up in phoenix, are these common enough to find at the show? does .308 even run reliably in the MG34 platform??
Re: .308 barrels?
Original Norwegian 7.62x51 barrels are not common. Besides the barrel, you will need a modified feed tray, modified feed pawls, and a new booster cone with about a 9.5mm to 10mm opening. The feed ramp angles it the receiver can be problematic in 7.62x51 because of the shorter rounds bullet points hitting to high in the chamber during feeding. The MG34 can and will run in 7.62 NATO, but the lack of proper barrels made of tough barrel steel make it more of a curiosity that is fun to take out from time to time. Finding decent 7,9 ammo or reloading for your MG34 with proper components, might make more sense. JH
