Hello
I am new on this forum. I have just bought this MG42 wich was found in Britanny.
I think it must be an "bnz" made by Steyr.
If someone can have some informations about this MG
here I can read the serial: 4878 with a letter but I cannot identified it, but I think "c"
On the opposite side of the marking there is this "x"
nice early mg42 receiver, oddly it seems it is Phosphated?, but i was under the impression Phosphating of parts was done late war? the x stamp may be a russian capture mark.
If I recall correctly, Brittany allied themselves very quickly with the invading Germans in 1940 because they felt quite dejected by the French, and really did not mix with them much up until WW1 demanded a national effort. As a Celtic enclave, I think they have the best music (I use to play the biniou) of the so-called Celtic Nations.
Are you also from Brittany?
