MG.34 Tobruk position in Jersey, Channel Islands.

As you can see this Tobruk position was concrete capped a long time ago and filled in. But it has changed very little from the time it was built in the 1940's. Quite a nice spot to be manning in the summer but very bleak and miserable in the winter, although not as bad as the Russian Front. In the winter the sea spray must have sent the good old mg.34 a nice shade of rusty red I'm sure. In the last picture the top of the doorway is just visible, showing how much the position was filled in. Again, something different for you to see.
