Re: Tan gunners kit??
Would the tan color indicate Luftwaffe issue?. Their ammo pouches and leather were light brown rather than the black used by the army.
Watch Hogan's Heroes sometime and see how Sgt. Schultz's leather is brown... US air crews that were shot down were guarded in Luftwaffe operated camps, run separately from the POW camps for captured US army prisoners.

John-do you still have your old one,or did you have to turn it in when the war ended?
Actually, there are a lot of neat things used on that show. The war was only over for about 20 years and the stuff was still around.I always liked the big staff car they used. There is a good book in the Osprey series 'Luftwaffe Airborne and Field Units' that shows a lot of the brown leather equipment. ---bil

Re: Tan gunners kit??
How do you think it is that I do such a good job with the old German?
According to someone who remembers it, I was a cop, wearing a long overcoat and peaked hat. There, that's more than you really wanted to know, ja?
