You do get what you pay for. You will need todecide how large of a run you want these dies to be capable of making. Also getting a correct print is very important. Ideally you would be able to use a CMM to plot the points on a registered receiver. That way it is not cut. Besides the pic that Salt put up has at least 6 sets of dies. The length of this reciever will make them pretty darn big. Short of being a manufacturer of firearms I can not see this being reasonable to build.

Look at Remington and Savage who are now out sourcing the production of their guns. Sad state that they are taking skilled people here out of work.

I do agree that looking into the possibilites are great. However some people here work in the metalworking industry and we know what can be done reasonably and what can't. I wish I would have done my apprenticeship in die-making rather than becoming a screw machinist. I did not like the idea of the stress involved with making and working on dies. Many guys in the apprenticeship program looked like they were well on their way to a breakdown.

Re-welding them is much easier to do. Much cheaper to do also.

The MG42/3 is licenced by Reimenthal Co. to Italy,Pakistan,Turkey, and the former regime of Sadaam Husein's Iraq.Switzerland makes the M51 which resembles the MG42 but the receiver is machined instead of using stamped steel, and the bolt uses folding flaps to engage recesses in the receiver instead of locking rollers on the MG42.
