Has anyone else had this problem.
Bought a sight on Ebay, and it doesn't quite fit.
The spring pull lifts all the way, but it doesn't quite turn into position - see pic.
Is there something dumb, highly likely, that I am missing?
No, please...Really, it looks as if it's not all the way down on the stud. Stud could be mushroomed, or it may have gunk/rust inside the hole in the sight. Clean it by hand with the proper drill bit/end mill. That be said, my Indian repro's didn't fit either because the hole 'was' too shallow....Phil
After posting here and making sure I wasn't missing something.
I looked at it from every angle, even used my magnifying glass, as I often have to, lol.
There was a tiny piece of slough on the underside of the inside of the attachment holder.
I used a brass hammer and tapped the base of the sight until it slipped into place - it removed easily and then clipped into place easily from that point on.
The brass hammer left no mark on the sight, which is a pretty tarnished and an older one anyway .
I was thinking of buying one for $200 when this one appeared on Ebay from scenic, lovely Latvia for $45.00 - that is the one in the picture.
The sight base is actually nicely finished, and if not WW2, nicely made postwar - the problem was slough on the MG34 mount - it fitted perfectly on the MG13.

Glad to here that you got working. Yes the difference is slight sometimes but large on the pocket book. My thoughts are if for display that a lot of folks with a great amount of knowledge are going to be viewing then the extra money might be worth spending. But if it's for field use with reenacting the new ones that make my pocket book happy.
